![]() Hardcore football fans might feel as though some players are overpowered–especially the strikers–but I believe this gives the game a desirable balance between fun and simulation. Depending on who you ask, that might be positive or negative. The new weapons on offense and the pace of the action gives clubs on offense an unmistakable advantage over the defense. The distant camera angle is a factor, but the running animations help to make FIFA 19 a title that is very easy to mistake for a real match. The animation is appropriately sped up or slowed without looking unnatural. Running animations have been an issue in past FIFA titles and in its competitor's game, but the most realistic gallops I can recall are on display any time you're sprinting to break away from a marker, or trying to catch up on defense in FIFA 19. This gameplay package makes you want to keep playing the game. I'm best as a midfielder, but I've been able to pull off some nice finishes, and that's a testament to the timed finishes and intuitive controls. The ball and player physics, including the new Active Touch mechanics, are the biggest reason the gameplay is so much fun this year. What the gameplay guys and girls have done with FIFA 19 is even more impressive. ![]() ![]() However, that game features one-on-one action and no ball. Does clipping still occur occasionally? Of course, it does, but it happens as infrequently in FIFA 19 as any sports video game on the market, with the exception of EA Sports UFC 3. ![]()
